Thirsty Thursdays Presents My Jello Americans

This brilliant blog is dedicated solely to exquisitely executed Jello shots--among my favorites are the Dragon Flower and Faberjello, pictured here. And with a name like My Jello Americans ( I can never resist a good pun!) you know these are solid people. Again, pun intended.

ANIMAL OBSESSION!

What to do with plastic animals, big and small. This gal is a genius.

brand lust (or is it love?)

I'm always inspired by the work of Singapore design group Foreign Policy, but I especially love this project for Cocotte restaurant complete with printed corks for business cards.

Object Daily: puregenius Tattly Toos

Tattly has created some seriously cool temporary tattoos for those who aren't quite ready to commit. My favorite is the tattone, a play on pantone colors that leaves a window for your skin to become the tone. There are oodles of others to choose from, by different artists, and they all cost just $5 each for a set of two. Pure genius, I say! See all theTattly 'toos here.

Crochet what?

If you ask me, this entire premise is goosebump inducing. Teaser for an in-process documentary about yarn bomb street art--essentially knit grafitti. simply brilliant.

Smile Worthy

My lovely sister Emma showed me this picture, and it made me smile. I love when people take something that is perceived a certain way and make it fabulous. Enter the trailer park castle, as Emma calls it.

Tiny Home LoveLOVELove

TINYloveTINY

I am in LOVE with the tiny homes made by Tumbleweed Tiny House Company. They make itsy bitsy sustainable houses from 65 to 837square feet. The founder, Jay Shafer, lives in one himself in Sebastopol, and invites curious souls to come check it out.

I WILL have one one day. They seriously melt my heart!!!! Into a teeny tiny sparkly puddle.

I have mine all picked out...

I mean, seriously, how sweet are these?!!!
Check out some of the other models.

Read the blog here, including the 16-y0 building one in his parent's back yard. He plans to take it to college with him! SO cute!

Windows full of Wonder

I LOVE window shopping!! And I don't really mean looking at "nice" things I'd "like" to buy...that involved too much self-restraint for me, thank you. I'm more referring to admiring awesome and creatively genius inspiring window displays. Of course Anthro is always a winner, but here a couple I saw today while at the Scottsdale Fashion Square mall (I'm in Scottsdale staying at the amazing Rocks for a few days with family, which has become an annual thing.)

My two frontrunners today were J. Crew with their "Love at First Flight" window, with white feathers dipped in my favorite turquoise-ish color flying in a formation around the mannequins, and Louis Vuitton's AMAZING gilded display. The merchandise displayed has golden rays of shining beams extending from it all around, that drip into sumptuous puddles of gold. I LOVE IT! So luxurious and decadent.

Over-the-Moon Mondays! Object Daily

I've been obsessing lately over the Cartier Love Bracelet (all in due time--I assure you) but have been digging some other awesome cuffs along the way. Currently I live in (literally--don't take them off) my mali recycled flip-flop bracelets that I've been acquiring by the bunches for myself, friends and family at Paper Source, and my pura vida bracelet,

but I've craving some more solid and more mature pieces to make my signature. I've been busily eyeing pretty much everything Erica Anenberg makes, but that whirled to a fever-pitch over the weekend as she was featured on both HauteLook and Gilt.
Then I realized I had a little bitta credit on Gilt from a returned item months ago...JACKPOT! I decided to go for it and got my bracelet--one of the braille collection, it reads: Love at First Sight. I've been eying the Blind Faith ring--mainly because that is my modus operandi...but I was just feeling the cuff.
Anyway, I've owned and sold on ebay severalof Anenberg's items and I LOVE! But wanted to share my obsession of the day with y'all
.
Oh, did I mention it's sold out? Why does that make it oh-so-much sweeter? Sigh.

Easter-spiration!

Okay, that didn't come out right. Sounds like E-perspiration, something a shop-aholic might experience with cart overload, or that feeling you get when checking an ex-boyfriends facebook for a change in relationship status (just kidding, I never do that...hehe...) Smells like teen spirit.

Whatever. Nothing will stop me from being excited (a tad late this year, perhaps...time to HOP to it!) about all things EASTER!!!!! I LOVE this (and frankly, most) holidays and usually turn directly to the halls of Stewart for my first seedlings of ideas, and boy have I got a batch this year!

I am going to make a special easter basket for my special angel Mathilda (my first foray intothe children's Easter basket realm!) and some smaller baskets for my lovely friends andneighbors filled with treats and spring goodies. I also need to get to planning my menu for the Hollywood Bowl Service this year, as all the girls in my small group and I contribute to the picnic and we enjoy a lovely spread in one of the fabulous boxes.

Here are my egg-inspired spring color mini-cupcakes from last year, which accompanied teasandwiches-chicken salad, egg salad and cucumber.

SO...to get me inspired I've posted some images of Easter + spring things I'm loving! I plan to hit up the 99cents Depot and my love-Gloria's Cake and Candy to get some supplies, and have an Easter crafts extravaganza with Lindsey this week.

It's at times like these when I miss my Grandma--we would make faberge eggs so opulent you'd think we pilfered them from the czars--gold and jewels...and we'd hang them from a white potted spray-painted branch not unlike the image below. Our Easter tree.

Well, Grandma, let's just say I intend to make you proud this year.

Whale of a deal!

I was at the 99cents only store with the kids picking out some goodies for their Mishloach Manot boxes during Purim and found this little gem! A single serving red wine mini bottle complete with disposable (and Über classy) plastic glass built right in to the packaging. I want to stock up on a bunch for the movies at Hollywood Forever, or just a slow day where I need some inspiration--don't judge! Libations are part of my creative process. Now if they would just create a champagne version...

At just 79 cents a pop, I really didn't feel right not sharing this.

You're welcome.

Today I was at Jo-Ann's with the kids I nanny to get some supplies for a plantation diorama--man to be in school again--and I happened upon one of the bargain bins outside with some supercute unfinished wood little birdhouses--all for $1!!

Some had steeples, some had double awnings, some heart-shaped windows, and some were round little huts! All were adorable and we just had to snap some up! I let each kid pick out one to decorate and grabbed a few for myself todecorate and put in Easter/spring baskets and maybe even use for Ashley's wedding in June!

My lovely friend Ashley is getting married and I'm helping her with planning--these little guys might be perfect for decorating the tables or hanging from the trees.

I'll post pics of what I end up doing with mine, but tell me: what would you do with one of these little birdhouses?
